Carbon Reduction Plan

Effective Date: 01/04/26

1. Commitment to Net Zero

Exell Training Ltd is committed to reducing the greenhouse gas emissions associated with its operations and to achieving Net Zero emissions by 2040. This commitment applies to Exell Training Ltd's UK operations and will be supported by annual monitoring, practical reduction measures and progressive improvement in the quality of the company's carbon data.

2. Organisational Context and Boundary

Exell Training Ltd is a Northern Ireland training provider delivering healthcare, workplace and professional development training. Training is delivered principally from its Belfast training premises. Exell Training occupies a dedicated floor comprising one conference/theory room, two practical training rooms and one trainers' room.

Natural gas for the Exell Training area is billed directly to Exell Training Ltd. Electricity is supplied through a shared premises account currently billed to Carrik Care Ltd. Exell Training will therefore account for an appropriate share of electricity consumption using a documented and reasonable allocation method until separate metering or more granular consumption data become available.

  1. Carbon Reporting Approach

Exell Training had not calculated an organisational carbon footprint before 2026. The company has therefore established 1 April 2026 to 31 March 2027 as its first formal baseline reporting period. Emissions will be reported in tonnes of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e) using the GHG Protocol Corporate Standard and the applicable UK Government greenhouse gas conversion factors.

The reporting boundary will include Scope 1 and Scope 2 emissions and the relevant subset of Scope 3 categories used in the UK Government Carbon Reduction Plan framework: business travel, employee commuting, waste generated in operations, upstream transportation and distribution, and downstream transportation and distribution.

4. Current Source Data and Operational Profile

Natural Gas

  • Current Position: Paid directly by Exell Training LTD. The July 2026 supplier invoice records 803kWh for the month and 15,026 kWh billed on the tariff over the preceding 12 months.

  • Measurement Approach: Metered supplier data will be reconciled to the baseline reporting period and converted to tCO2e.

Purchased Electricity

  • Current Position: Electricity for 60 Lisburn Road is currently billed to Carrik Care Ltd through a shared premises supply. The July 2026 invoice records 7,856 kWh billed on the tariff over the preceding 12 months.

  • Measurement Approach: Exell Training will apply a documented allocation reflecting its use of a dedicated floor until separate metering or more granular data are available.

Business Travel

  • Current Position: No routine business travel is currently undertaken for training delivery because training is delivered from the Belfast premises.

  • Measurement Approach: Reviewed annually; emissions will be recorded if business travel arises.

Employee Commuting

  • Current Position: Two trainers commute from Carrickfergus by public transport; one trainer commutes from Antrim by car; two Belfast-based trainers are within walking distance and normally walk.

  • Measurement Approach: Commuting will be estimated using normal return journey distance, mode of transport and attendance frequency.

Waste

  • Current Position: General operational waste is collected weekly. Weight by waste stream is not currently measured.

  • Measurement Approach: Exell Training will improve waste-data collection and use reasonable documented estimates where measured data are unavailable.

Upstream / downstream transport

  • Current Position: Exell Training is primarily a service-based training provider with a relatively limited physical-goods supply chain.

  • Measurement Approach: Relevant purchased-goods deliveries and other applicable transport will be assessed annually.

  1. Carbon Reduction Measures

  • Monitor gas and electricity consumption and retain supplier invoices and meter data for annual carbon reporting.

  • Use energy-efficient lighting, heating controls and shutdown procedures for equipment when rooms are not in use.

  • Maintain the current low-business-travel delivery model and use online meetings where suitable.

  • Encourage lower-carbon commuting, including public transport, walking and car sharing where practical.

  • Use digital course materials and administration where appropriate to reduce unnecessary printing.

  • Reuse training equipment and materials where safe and appropriate and increase recycling where facilities permit.

  • Consider environmental performance and carbon-reduction commitments when selecting relevant suppliers.

  • Prefer recyclable, reusable, biodegradable or reduced packaging where reasonably practicable.

  • Improve the quality of waste, commuting and shared-electricity data during the first baseline year.

  1. Targets and Continuous Improvement

The first priority is to establish a reliable baseline footprint for the year ending 31 March 2027. Once the baseline has been completed, Exell Training will set measurable interim reduction targets and report progress against the baseline annually. The 2040 Net Zero commitment will remain under review as data quality and operational information improve.

  1. Governance, Approval and Review

The Director has overall accountability for Exell Training Ltd's Net Zero commitment and carbon-reduction initiatives. The General Manager is responsible for coordinating source-data collection, implementation of reduction measures and annual review. This Carbon Reduction Plan was approved by the Director of Exell Training Ltd on 1 April 2026.

The Plan will be reviewed at least annually and updated following significant changes to the business, its premises, energy arrangements, reporting requirements or environmental objectives.

  1. Publication

This Carbon Reduction Plan is published by Exell Training Ltd as part of its commitment to transparent and responsible environmental management. Quantified baseline emissions will be incorporated following completion and verification of the company's first formal baseline reporting period.
